Each signer usually needs a current, valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, state ID or passport. Bring the complete document, unsigned, and make sure every signer and any required witnesses are present. If a signer has no acceptable ID, tell us when you book.
Usually not. Many notarial acts require you to sign in front of the notary, so please wait unless we have confirmed otherwise for your specific document.
Cost depends on the type of service, the number of signatures or signers, the location and the timing. Government or third-party fees, such as for apostilles, are separate. Call (248) 975-7129 or contact us for a clear quote before you book.
No. A notary cannot give legal advice, prepare legal documents or choose the type of notarial certificate for you. Please consult an attorney or the agency requesting the document. We can explain the notarization process itself.
Signed and Sorted is a nationwide signing service for title companies, escrow officers, lenders and law firms. Each signing is handled by a notary signing agent trained in real estate loan documents. We take borrowers through the closing package, verify identity, make sure everything is signed, initialed, dated and notarized, and return the documents to the title company or lender. Founder Joshua Gardner is an NNA Certified Notary Signing Agent (2026).
Notarial authority comes from the notary’s state commission. The National Notary Association (NNA) is a professional organization that provides training and the Certified Notary Signing Agent credential. We hold NNA certification and are also members of ALTA and MLTA.
An apostille is a certificate that authenticates a public document so it can be used in another country that belongs to the Hague Apostille Convention. Countries outside the Convention usually require authentication and embassy legalization instead. Tell us the document and the destination country and we will explain the route.
Michigan-issued documents and documents notarized by Michigan notaries are authenticated by the Michigan Department of State. Federal documents, such as FBI background checks, are authenticated by the U.S. Department of State, and documents from other states go to that state’s authority. We can coordinate any of these.
RON lets you appear before a notary over secure live video, verify your identity online, sign electronically and receive an electronically notarized document. We perform remote online notarizations in Michigan under the Michigan Law on Notarial Acts. Whoever receives the document decides whether they accept electronic notarization, so check with them first.
We offer both Live Scan electronic fingerprinting and ink fingerprinting on FD-258 cards, for FBI background checks, professional licensing and employment screening, including on-site sessions for groups. Check your agency’s instructions to see whether it requires Live Scan or FD-258 cards, and bring any agency-supplied cards, forms or reference codes.
